HMS Morris
Nibley 2023
HMS Morris are an art-rock group from Wales. They’ve been touring and recording since 2015, and are supported by the Cardiff-based Bubblewrap Collective. Their 2 full-length albums to date (2016’s ‘Interior Design’ and 2018’s ‘Inspirational Talks’) both earned nominations for the Welsh Music Prize, and were variously described as ‘Innovative, forward thinking pop music’ (Earthly Pleasures), ‘strange and beautiful music’ (Electronic Sound) and a 'multi-dimensional sound that traipses across hitherto unexplored regions of sound' (Clash)’. A third album is on the way in 2023. Their keen sense of drama and spectacle has seen the band drawn into the theatre world in recent years, leading to collaborations on projects such as The Insect Olympics (Familia de la Noche), REVOLT! (The Other Room) and The Lady Speaks Welsh (Os Nad Nawr).
Brilliant stagecraft, fabulous musicians and just a little bonkers they are one of our favourite discoveries of this years scouting for bands missions. We accosted them after their set and made them sign up for Nibley immediately, fortunately they said yes, and are opening the Renishaw on Friday.
