Nibley 2018

Space are a band that have always been beyond defining musically - yes their 8 top 40 singles in the 90s meant they did get tagged with the Britpop movement but their intelligent lyrics and off-beat yet earworm melodies had more in common with The Kinks than Oasis or Blur. Their imaginative, pioneering usage of electronic instruments and sampling drew influences as diverse as post-punk, ska, techno, hip hop and vintage film soundtracks. There aren't many bands that have produced material quite as original as "Female of The Species" and "The Ballad of Tom Jones" (the number 4 single in tandem with Cerys Matthews of Catatonia). Over 5 Million record sales, two double platinum albums and the band are still giving charismatic performances of their edgy, innovative pop. We know that you will make them feel right at home in our Neighbourhood!
